Northampton was, at one time, nearly as famous for it's beers as it was for it's shoe industry. With the availability of good quality brewing water , the town has been home to at least 30 different breweries over the centuries. Most of the breweries and associated buildings now only exist as memories, as local brewing heritage has given way to modern developments.

Frog Island Brewery was established in 1994 in one of the few Maltings buildings that still survive in Northampton. The brewery is close to an area of Northampton that has long been known by the nick-name of Frog Island as it has always been prone to flooding. Since trading began we have been recreating the traditional taste of Northampton beer, using traditional methods and top-quality raw materials. Experience the full-bodied character of this local style in our range of bottled-conditioned beers and cask-conditioned ales.
